The most prestigious cycling event in the world, the Tour de France has crisscrossed France, mainly, every year since 1903, over at least three weeks in July.
The event brings together around twenty teams of 8 riders who race about twenty stages, covering roughly 3,500 km in total.
The leader of the general classification wears the yellow jersey. The green jersey rewards the best sprinter, the polka-dot jersey the best climber, and the white jersey the best rider under 25.

What does the green jersey mean?
The green jersey is awarded to the winner of the points classification. It was introduced in 1953 to complement the yellow jersey, which was awarded to the overall time winner. Besides the Tour de France, the green jersey is also awarded to the points classification winners of other cycling tours.
